We finally get internet connection!!

Apologies for the delay in updating the blog, but due to the very poor mobile phone reception at Orchard Farm, I've had to leave the area to do it.
It feels like that I've driven as far away as Cornwall just to find an adequate internet connection, that's how bad it is.  But anyway, here's what we've been up to...

In the first batch, four minibuses and a trailer all left St Albans by 6.20pm, loaded with 56 very eager Scouts, Guides and Leaders.  The Ware contingent, consisting of 31 similarly eager members in two minibuses with one towing a trailer departed about 30 minutes later.

'Stalbans' buses pulled up at the Leicester Forest East Services on the M1, for a quick re-fuel just before 8pm, all arriving within 10 minutes of each other as the traffic was very light.  The leading Ware bus was by now an hour behind us and the second one diverted via Cambridge to pick up Hannibal, one of our dedicated cycling leaders.

First minibus to arrive at Orchard Farm by 9pm was Barney's, towing the trailer from Stalbans with some of the Kings Langley Scouts all in a very joyous mood.

...but soon joined by the other 5 minibuses, trailers and 12 cars to help fill the car park.

Here are the tents on the back field, pre-pitched by Steve G, Tim and Barry on Friday afternoon.

  1. Amazing how far you need to get a decent signal these days. Last year I do believe you only had to find a certain local tree. Great photos and blog. Well done.
